"Bear Pantry has been a saving grace for me at school. Ever since I was a kid, I knew that I wanted to go to college. I also knew that my parents would not help me achieve that dream. I started working when I was 11 years old to pursue my dream. Every year, money has been a challenge and knowing that I have a free food source every week comforts me, as there have been times I've gone hungry. I know that there are other students like me who rely on this resource and I am happy to be a voice for them in advocating for Bear Pantry."

Food insecurity continues to be a huge challenge for college students today. For students, not knowing where their next meal will come from has huge negative psychological and academic impacts and keeps them from finishing their degree.
The Bear Pantry is a collaborative initiative on the UNC campus to assist students in our community who are faced with food insecurity. Having a food pantry on the UNC campus ensures that all students in our community have the resources they need to take their focus off where their next meal is coming from and back to their studies.
Since the start of the program in 2014, the Bear Pantry has had over 6,000 visits from UNC students. Your gift to the Bear Panty will ensure that no UNC student has to decide between textbooks or food.
